I always tell my principal that this is the best technology investment we've made!
Thanks again, Debbie Iuculano, Supervisor Art, Business, Technology & Media,
Lakeland
Regional High School.
You do super work. You give the fastest and most
efficient tech support of any site I've encountered and I appreciate it.
Thanks, Ms. Landell, Incarnation
School.
Henry, This was sent to the principal by an obviously happy parent:
"Sister Barbara Rose, I love this Homework Hero! It is worth every penny we ever gave to the Walkathon! Thanks."
Martin Gabert, Saint Charles Borromeo
School.
I cannot tell you just how popular our homework pages are, particularly in grades 7-12, where teachers post assignments daily.
Current parents like the idea of "access," they know what is going on in the classroom. Students like the fact that they have a backup system if they don't write down the assignments. Teachers like the pages because "loop holes" have been removed and everyone is held accountable. Finally, prospective parents visit the pages because they get a sense of the academic climate of the school.
This is an all-around great idea...I will say that it took me about 6 months to "train" teachers to regularly and reliably post assignments, students, and parents to regularly visit the pages, but now the system is working great!
... We are very pleased with the program...our parents love it! Great, practical concept! Birgit
Meany, Principal, Lighthouse Community Christian School.
As the year draws to a close, I just wanted to let you know how
incredibly pleased Berkeley Carroll
-- teachers, parents, and students -- has been with Homework Hero.
We haven't been able to get every teacher to use it regularly,
but we have about 40 doing so and next year will require it of all
teachers. It has also got some teachers interested in web site
design (myself included), which has
been an added side effect.

Carroll School.
Thank you, and please know that the Bishop Eustace Homework Hero site has been a great success with parents and alumni and your hosting of this site is beyond compare.
Benjamin King, Bishop Eustace Preparatory
School.
I love homeworkhero.com!
It's convenient, because I can update it from anywhere, even a public
library or an internet cafe from halfway across the world. It's the
perfect way to keep parents and students informed of what's going on in
class, and what I expect in terms of homework and study assignments.
When a student is absent, they no longer have to wait until they get
back to school to ask me what was assigned for homework. When a student
asks me that question, all I have to say is "See homeworkhero.com."
It's great for homebound students--I no longer have to invent the wheel.
When I have to call parents to tell them that their student is not
turning in homework, I just give them the number of the assignment that
they are missing, and they can look it up themselves. Once they know
where they can find the homework assignments, they can monitor their
child's homework themselves. It enables the parents to help their
children, it enables the student to be helped, and it liberates me from
having to continually explain what it is I want my students to do. For
parents who don't have the internet--no problem. Everyone knows someone
who has internet access, and if they don't, they can go to the public
library and ask the librarian to help them get access. Every student at
school has access to the internet, and every student has access to media
specialists who are only too happy to print out the information they
need. Many teachers tell me that it is not their responsibility to make
sure that the students do their homework, and I definitely agree, but we
all know who is ultimately held accountable for failing students--the
poor teacher!!!! Unfair I say! Let the record show that I did my best to
prevent the lemmings from plunging themselves headlong into the sea.
Once all the barriers are removed that could possibly preclude a student
from doing his/her homework, the responsibility rests upon its rightful
owner: the student. I sincerely thank the creator of homeworkhero.com.
It makes me look every bit as good a teacher as I think I am.

High School, SC.
I have been
researching homework sites for teachers so our teachers could post
homework assignments, etc. In my research, I came across your
great site. It appears to offer everything I was looking for:
a non-commercial option, having one site-administrator to register all
the teachers (so nobody could post a teacher page who really wasn't from
our school), the ability for teachers to put a link back to the school
web site, the ability for teachers to post links to other educational
sites for their students, ease of posting assignments, date last updated
is shown, etc. ... We really won't start posting anything until
next September but I would like to get it all set up over the summer.

"This morning I had a
conference with the parents of a kid who's failing and the mother was
telling me how the kid just couldn't learn with the way I teach, and I'm
not like the teacher he had last year, and that all I do is talk in
Spanish and he can't understand anything that's going on, and every
other lame excuse except that it's easier to trash the teacher, blame
someone else, and not do the work, and THEN the father walked in--and
what did he have in his hand? Homeworkhero.com for (My Page).
He said, "You are the only one of his teachers who go through this
trouble, and everything he could possibly need is right here. I
can't understand why my son hasn't done any of his homework. He
has no reason at all!" Well, P.S., Homeworkhero.com
saved the day! I walked out smelling like a rose, and the kid came
into my class and was actually participating and learning, with a
completely different attitude. It was great!" (Anonymous).
Just a short email to tell
you how happy we are with Homework Hero. Thanks for setting it up so
quickly. Our teachers are impressed with how easy it is to use. Now I
just need to get everyone to use it on a regular basis!
Rob
Kerman, Technology Coordinator Cathedral
School for Boys, San Francisco.
If you're the programmer of
this software, thanks. It's a great help. My students use it frequently,
especially when absent. We looked at many packages and found them
tedious to use and most unfriendly. We then saw the article in the
Columbia paper about Homework Hero. We've been very pleased. Ms.
Tobey, Spartanburg
Day School.
I'd like to thank you for the
beautifully simple site you developed. I had been using the
Highwired.net site which is getting ready to charge schools for the
service. Very few teachers were willing to struggle with learning to
maneuver their site anyway. ....You have developed a user-friendly site
for those still-shy teachers who underestimate their ability to learn
how to navigate the WWW ... Again, great job! Ms. Schupp, Site
Manager, Sedgefield
Middle School.
I have been using the Homework Hero
system for two weeks now at St. Mary's
and I am getting raves from parents AND FROM STUDENTS. Many thanks
for a really useful system.
Mr.
Youstra, St. Mary's School.
Homework
Hero really is a good
thing. Just the other day we had a conference with a parent whose child
has a learning disability. She loves being able to get on-line to check
all his assignments! Thanks again! (Anonymous).
