What
are the responsibilities of site managers?
Actually, there is not much that site
managers must do. Mangers can add pages for teachers on an ongoing basis. Site managers will also be able to
delete or modify teacher pages should the need arise. Teacher pages that
go 200 days without an update will be automatically deleted (some
schools have the auto delete time set at an alternative level).
I also ask that that site managers reset
passwords for teachers who forget them. I can do this also, but it is
generally easier for the local manager to determine if a request for a
lost password is legitimate. Instructions for setting a new password can
be found by clicking here. Note:
Homework Hero version 2.0 has an automatic password
retrieval feature. If your school is still using
Homework Hero version 1.0 feel free to ask us about
upgrades. See information on Homework
Hero Version 2.0. We hope that site managers will promote
use of the site within the school. Also, should we need to communicate
with your school, we will normally contact the site manager. Top

How
does a site manager create a page?
When your school signs up, the site
manager will be given a User ID and password. This will permit the
manager to access the manager area from the school's home page on
Homework Hero. To create a new teacher page follow these steps:
- Navigate to your school on Homework
Hero.
- Under the "Account Manager
Only" area choose to "Add Assignment Pages."
- Fill in your manager's user id and
password and click "login."
- Fill in the form giving information
for the teacher for whom you wish to add a page.
- Click submit.
- Make a note of the user id and
password that you assigned the teacher.

How
does the manager modify or delete a page?
Go to your school and choose to modify or
delete assignment pages. Enter the userid and for the page you
wish to modify/delete. For the password, you enter either the password
for the page you wish to modify/delete or your master password (the
manager's password).
To modify a page, click continue, fill in
the form fields as needed and click submit.
To delete a page, look down to the box
below the user id and password fields, click on the small
down arrow at the right end of the box. Select "permanently
delete your assignment page." Click continue.
If you are unable to locate the userid for the page you wish to delete,
see these instructions below. Top
of Page.
Setting
a Password for a Teacher who Forgets His/Hers
The instructions in the
section above also provide a way to reset a password when a teacher has
forgotten his/hers.
From your school's main
page at Homework Hero, choose to update or delete assignment pages.
Enter the user id for the teacher page
(NOT your manager's user id). For the password, enter your master password (the
manager's password).
Then, in the assignment form,
type the new password in the last box on the page and click
submit.
What
if a User ID is lost?
Should a teacher forget a User ID, there is an easy way to find it:
Go to your school's page at Homework Hero:
Click "View all Teacher Listings".
Click on the teacher name.
Look at the top of your browser to see the URL associated with the page.
Within the URL, you can see the teacher id between the question mark and
the plus sign.
What
should a manager do to promote use of the site?
Teacher participation is the key to
making Homework Hero work. Once your school's page has been set
up, the manager should contact all faculty to encourage them to
post assignments. We also suggest that the manager monitor assignment
posting. From the school's home page on Homework Hero, you can choose to
see a list of all teachers. The teacher list indicates when each teacher
last updated assignments. If a page goes a long time without an update,
the Manager can send a reminder prompt to encourage use of the site.
It is also important for students and
parents to know about the site, and managers can help with this by
sending home announcements, submitting a news item to the school
newsletter, and creating a link to Homework Hero from the school's
existing web site. We believe that it is important to have teachers
actively using the site before you publicize the site widely. Parents
and students will quickly stop accessing the site if they learn that
teachers are not posting. Teachers must make the first move! Top
