All of the third grade students were given their summer work in school, but here is a brief summary of your work. Please note that there are attachments to these assignments that I could not load onto homework hero. The office at St. Mary's has hard copies if you need them. Have a great summer and see you in a few months! Mrs. Barr

| Summer Work - Reading |
Reading Read, read and read over the summer! Reading for pleasure will help you in all of your subjects. I suggest you read at least 20 minutes a day and keep a log of the books you read. When we return in September we will spend time discussing our favorite books. Two book reports are due the first day of school. One book should be fiction and the other non-fiction. To help you write your report you should complete the graphic organizers given to you with your summer work packet. After completing the graphic organizers, write a brief summary of the books. Take time to look over your work for spelling and punctuation mistakes. You may type your report or write it in your best cursive. The graphic organizers should be turned in with your report. |
| Summer Work - Math |
Math Practice your facts every day. It is very important that you know your multiplication and division facts through ten (it would be smart to study them through 12). Also, practice your addition and subtraction facts. We will be working on long division and you will be need to know all of your facts to do well. We will have timed tests - our goal is to get 30 correct in a minute (don't worry, we will work up to this and you will be surprised how quickly you can reach this goal with daily practice!). |
| Summer Work - Religion | Religion Review the seven sacraments and their meanings. Review the Beatitudes. This is a great "recipe" for a happy life. Take time to study it. This will be one of the first prayers you will need to memorize. As you spend time outside this summer look around and say a little prayer to thank God for the beauty of his creation. Also as you spend time with your family, remember to be men and women of gratitude! |
