| Benefits of Music to Young Children: |
Children are inherently musical. They can feel the rhythm of their own heartbeat and notice the melodic intonation of their mother's voice. Early childhood is the best time for a child to build upon these basic musical principles. It has been shown that musical exploration in these early years engages nearly all parts of the brain. Also, music contributes to the development of the whole child, specifically in areas of both fine and gross motor skills, language, cognitive skills, social and emotional interactions, memory, self-esteem and confidence, imagination and creativity, problem-solving skills, coordination, and listening skills. This year I hope to introduce these children to various kinds of music, instruments, and games that will launch them into the world of music and contribute to their overall development!

Here's a Peek At What We Are Doing This Week! |
We Had a Great First Week! We will continue the Fun this week as we sing some songs about apples as well as sing some Nursery Rhymes. Some songs that we will sing include Jack be Nimble, Hickory Dickory Dock, Humpty Dumpty, and Old King Cole. We will also sing the song "3 Little Kittens", play triangles, and develop our jumping skills as we jump over pretend candle sticks. For large movement activities we will introduce the parachute this week, learn the Hickory Dickory Hat Dance, and act out "Humpty Dumpty" with balloons. |
