| READING LOGS |
Completed Reading Logs are due every other week. Parents/guardians sign that the student has read the required time. Parents/guardians must sign on each line for each day (yes, that means signing ten times); the signature may not be scrawled across the signature area. If the student reads appropriate material during DEAR in school on Friday, then the respective teacher may sign the log for that time spent reading. The element code is assigned for the writing response. Both the list of element codes and Reading Log are available on the Falcon Cove website. A student may also make their own Reading Log on a piece of paper. The Reading Log is due every two weeks on the following Monday (or Tuesday if school is closed Monday). ** For those students who have reading as an elective, the Reading Log will be turned in to your reading teacher on the due date. Once the teacher returns the graded Log to the student, the student will show me the Log that same week for me to review and take the grade. For those students who do not have reading as an elective, I will review and grade the Log.Schedule of Reading Log Element Codes: Week of Aug. 30 & Sept. 6 (due Sept. 13): Code A

Spelling Quiz Friday, Sept. 3: a lot, absence, acceptable, accommodate, accomplish, acquire, acquit, advice, advise, all right Classroom Wish List After Open House, I decided to divide the items by class period so everyone does not bring in the same thing. If that does not work for you, bring in anything you want (or if you are unable to bring in something, that is fine also). The exception to this is tissues; anyone can bring in a box of tissues regardless of the class period or antibacterial moist hand wipes (see note below about wipes). Please do not feel obligated to send anything; also, you may want to wait until further in the year as we use up supplies. Periods 1 & 2: dry erase markers for white board (not thin) or white board erasers Period 4: package of loose-leaf paper, college-ruled preferred (8-1/2 x 11 is best or as close to 8-1/2 x 11 as you can find) Periods 5 & 6: ream of plain white printer paperI would also love antibacterial hand wipes, not the liquid because it drips on the floor, makes a huge mess, and ruins the floor. Therefore, I would like the antibacterial moist hand wipes (Wet Ones or generic at Target or some other store). Suggested Student Supplies - three ring binder, with college-ruled notebook paper (Spiral notebooks are NOT allowed) You may "share" your binder with another class, as long as the information from each class is segregated. - #2 pencils, sharpened, or mechanical pencils with #2 lead - dark blue or black ink pens - school agenda (this is given to each student on the first day of school) - red pens, highlighter - novel (every day!) This does not mean a magazine, a collection of short stories, nor the core novel Tangerine, until we are actually reading the novel in class. It is recommended students divide their binder (or language arts portion of a binder) into the following four sections: Vocabulary/Spelling, Grammar, Literature, and Writing.Understanding Ms. Peale's Pinnacle Grades Sometimes letters will be entered as the grade. An "X" means the assignment does not factor into the grade for various reasons. A "Z" is a zero because the student neglected to turn in the assignment. |
