Important dates: September 1st: Spanish Speakers II--"Mis primeros versos" quiz. September 2 & 3: SPANISH I -- Oral Proficiency quiz September 6 - Labor Day - NO SCHOOL September 9 - NO SCHOOL - Rosh Hashana LET'S HAVE FUN! It will be a great year! Grades will be calculated the following way: Homework & Oral Proficiency: 10% Participation: 10% Classwork:10% Projects: 10% Quizzes: 20% TESTS: 40% TOTAL: 100% |
THE ORAL APPROACH Students in Spanish I will learn Spanish phonetically for the first three or four weeks, to insure a good pronunciation in Spanish. Phonetically means the way it sounds to them, which it is the way everyone learns his/her own native language. Everyday I will review what they have learned previously and then add new expressions (NOT isolated words that they will NOT know WHAT to do with them). Participation, oral quizzes, academic games and showing they have been studying on a daily basis is the way they will be graded for the first four weeks. |
