Welcome to L/A |
Weekly Assignments: Studies show that by reading more, we become better readers and writers. I require all of my students to read (a book of their choice) nightly for at least twenty minutes. After completing their book, students need to fill out a book review for the class to read. They also have a bookmark to fill in the time, number of pages, date, ect., after they read nightly. I will collect the bookmarks every two weeks.Standards for bookmarks: 4--> Student reads for more than 20 minutes nightly for at least ten nights and completes two journal responses over the course of two weeks (and/or student reads at least twenty minutes nightly more than ten nights). (Reads over 200 minutes and fills out the two journal responses for that two week period.) 3--> Student reads twenty minutes nightly for ten nights and completes two journal responses over the course of two weeks. (Reads 200 minutes and fills out the two journal responses for that two week period.) 2--> Student reads for twenty minutes a night and completes two journal responses for 7-9 nights over the course of two weeks. (Reads 140-180 minutes and fills out the two journal responses for that two week period.) 1--> Student reads for twently minutes a night for less than seven nights and completes two journal responses over the course of two weeks. (Reads less than 140 minutes and fills out the two journal responses for that two week period.) Students have the writing prompts and the standards in their L/A notebooks and they are on their laptops. Writings for the week are due on Friday as soon as they come to class. Students may turn in up to three writings per week but no more than three with the exception of the week they turn in their long piece. On this week they may turn in four writings. If students are behind in writings or reading, they should stay after school on Mondays and Wednesdays for Homework Help. We only have two weeks of writing left for the trimester! |
